Route 66: Traveler's Guide and Roadside Companion
Authors: Tom Snyder & Bobby Troup

Here is a state-by-state description of Route 66, with an emphasis on the stories behind the sights you see. It's illustrated with 1930s-era auto club maps adapted to show the path of modern freeways but still evoking the spirit of the old road. Like the road itself, this book embraces both the happy and sad moments of its history and the experiences of its travellers.

The book supplies descriptions of towns and cities along the way with places to visit, places to avoid and places of historical interest. Included in the book is information on mini-tours, photography tips, a planning section, and more.

Route 66 Dining & Lodging Guide
Author: National Historic Route 66 Federation

The National Historic Route 66 Federation is a worldwide, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and saving Route 66. The guide is prepared by 28 National Historic Route 66 Federation members who belong to its Adopt-A-Hundred Program. Each program member travels his or her 100 mile section at least once every two years visiting and evaluating the dining and lodging establishments along their stretch of the road. A strict list of criteria is used for evaluation and their reviews are completely objective.

The result of their efforts is this guide with over 300 selections, reviews and prices covering all eight states. Particularly valuable for use in the small towns along the route, the guides will also help you discover historic places to eat and sleep.

Hogs on 66: Best Feed and Hangouts for Road Trips on Route 66
Authors: Michael Wallis & Marian Clark

Wallis and Clark team up to celebrate two beloved American icons, Harleys and Route 66. Hogs on 66 mixes food, fun and the freedom of the road in colorful photographs, stories, and information about Hog-friendly Hangouts, where to buy your Harley stuff, road tips, profiles from the road, biker wedding spots and several hundred favorite recipes from towns along the Route.

Road, machine and rider have enjoyed a long, colorful history together, a story chronicled here in vintage photographs and reminiscences. You'll learn all about butt darts in Vega, Texas and other behind-the-scenes tales from Harley tours down the Route. You'll meet Harley celebrities who've travelled the road.

Some eat to ride, but those who ride to eat will especially appreciate this compendium of favorite sights, stories, personalities, restaurants and recipes from the eight-state strip of pavement.  Stay home and try the recipes or hit the open road with book in hand.
