Route
66 Souvenirs
Alan Rose
This is a collection of 24 die-cut paper
buildings you can assemble - plus decals, bumper stickers,
postcards, mini billboards, and other colorful highway
devices to cut, fold, and paste. All are designed from
photographic images, and all celebrate the 2,400-mile
Chicago-to-Santa Monica stretch of Americana.
Rose fills in just enough blanks to
keep things interesting: "The Blue Whale was created
by Hugh Davis in 1971 as a wedding present for his wife.
It was later opened as a tourist attraction along with
the adjacent Reptile Kingdom and Alligator Ranch." Whales
and alligators in Catoosa, Oklahoma? Remember, this
was the highway that passed through jackalope country. Route
66 Souvenirs can provide hours of entertainment
for kids young and old.
