As an employee of The Savvy Traveller, Sarajane Avidon was surrounded by books and maps of all kinds of places she would never get to visit.
To help deal with her frustration, she made a list of places no one would ever get to visit. From that list she produced thirty-five postcard-sized mail art collages of "Places You Can't Go" in a collection she called called “Corgicards.” The cards use maps, postage stamps, rubber stamps and advertising images to transport the viewer to magical, mythical places around the block and around the world -- like Oz, Shangri-La and Glocca Morra. She viewed her Corgicards (named after the family dogs) as a way to inspire people to use their imaginations to become armchair travellers.
THE POSTER
Finally, she designed a "Places You Can't Go" poster, a collage of whimsical and provocative "Places You Can't Go". The poster is currently available in a 200-copy limited edition.
