TIME OUT GUIDES
Perhaps we can best describe these guides by first telling you what they are not. They are not guides in the traditional sense. They don't rate the top sights to see nor will they tell you the colors of the bedspreads in the hotels, how to say good morning in the local language, how to hail a taxi or how long the city has been incorporated.

Rather these are reference books for the active and curious traveller, written by locals, often used by locals, and based on the popular Time Out periodicals. What they do provide is a very comprehensive selection of restaurants, for example, from pubs, bistros and seafood shacks to those serving "cuisine" -- haute, nouvelle, and ethnic among them. Listings include high-fashion boutiques and flea markets, art galleries and art fairs, music and dance venues, museums and sports events, bars and nightspots, castles and cathedrals, neighborhoods and film festivals. Here you'll find opening times and admission prices, and the telephone numbers of the taxi companies. All levels of interest and all budgets are accommodated.
